Calumet Farms, Lexington, KY

Yes, I'm still digging in the recently scanned images archive. Here's what I came up with. Some day I'm going to have to ask if I can get a pass to photograph more than just the gate to the famed Calumet Farms in Lexington, Kentucky. Until then, this image will have to do. It's in the 70's here today with rain on the way. Hope you have a great weekend in store. Carol

Pink Buoys!

On a short walk along the bay in Stonington, Maine, several summers past, I happened across these bright pink buoys. Buoys come in all shapes, sizes and colors but these, I think, are the cutest ones I've seen as yet. Couldn't help but take a few photos. The beauty of this post, I'd totally forgotten about the photo of the sailboat with the pink buoys, and I didn't even remember taking it to be scanned a few weeks ago. So when I happened upon it on the DVD tonight, well, I was surprised.

As I meander my way through my archives of old photos from days gone by, you'll notice there's no method to the madness. Whatever strikes me at that moment, that's what I post. One day The Smokies, the next day New England. Who knew. Rainy weather coming my way tonight. Hope you have sunshine wherever you are. ENJOY!

Ruffled Feathers!

I know it's the dead of winter, but I was taking a trip through my archives today and came across this image of a duck ruffling and cleaning his feathers, or in more appropriate terms, maybe it's preening, that I took while on my trek to Chicago last summer. I love the colors and the texture so I wanted to share it with you. Apparently I'm into textures and patterns if you read this blog regularly. I would love to be in Chicago right now . . . shopping, and eating, at all the fabulous restaurants, of course. By the way anyone know the name of this duck? Enjoy!

Buds, Woodpecker and a Raccoon!

A hodgepodge of topics today . . . If anyone has any tips on how to get rid of a raccoon who raids my birdfeeder late at night, I could use some help. I tried to shoo him away several times, but he kept returning which I knew he would but for some reason I was compelled to try, try again. Also saw a downy woodpecker today for a brief half a minute. They seldom frequent my birdfeeders. It's usually the red bellied woodpeckers that stop by. And later in the day as I passed my window there were six to seven bright red cardinals on various branches of my tiny tree off my patio. It stopped me dead in my tracks to see so many bright red cardinals all in one place. I've posted an image of a tree with lots of buds hanging off of it I took a while back at Bernheim. I also posted a tricked out version I dropped in Lightroom and was playing around with. Enjoy!

Winter Scene, Midway, Kentucky

I photographed this wintery scene a few weeks ago on my trip to the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky, in Midway. This particular part of the byway is an often photographed area by photographers. I myself have photographed this actual scene in summer and fall and here it is in winter. No snow predicted for this weekend or early next week. Hoorah! Enjoy!

Hoar Frost and Snowfall

Hoar frost was covering everything this morning as I went to head out for the day. And coupled with the bright sunlight and remaining snow from earlier in the week, it made for some interesting looking shots so I stole a few pics before I headed out. We have 4-8 inches of snow to come later this weekend. Like I said in a previous post, someone get me out of here! Enjoy!
