It was a beautiful day in the Smokies and I just happened to be on my way back from driving a little in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, when I stopped at Morton Overlook just in time to catch the sun setting. I chose to feature the outline of the pine tree in the image. Still glad I did it. Enjoy!
Several years ago I made my way home from a week long trip to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan via southern Illinois. Just as I arrived at Mermet Lake the sun was setting. I decided to take a quick photo. Mermet is in the area of the Cache River System in southern Illinois. Nearby is Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge, a terrific area to view swamps comparable to the swamps of the Louisiana Bayou Country.
