Arbor View

Here's another image I dug out of the archives from my trip to Biltmore last year. As you walk from the house to the Conservatory, this beautiful arbor walkway greets you. I loved looking out into the gardens through the windows. We got a small reprieve from the triple digit temperatures last evening as a thunderstorm passed over. It was nice to have some rain as all of the plants and shrubs are looking a little peekish from the drought. However, word on the street is more triple digit temperatures are forecast for this weekend. Ugh! ENJOY!

Flower, The Conservatory at Biltmore!

What a beautiful flower. Unfortunately I don't have an identification for it. I'm hoping if you read this post, you can help me out. This image has been sitting in my archive since my trip to Biltmore last summer. This is one of the many images I photographed in the Conservatory. Snow is predicted along with wind chill of 10 degrees tomorrow. BRRRR! Hope you have a wonderful weekend. ENJOY!

Flower Identification Needed!

Anyone know what this is? I took this image of a small bloom on a tree that was in a huge flower pot in the Conservatory at Biltmore. I thought I would post it today as I've looked everywhere online and can't find the name of it. Help! ENJOY!

White Orchid!

I captured this image while photographing the flowers in the Conservatory at Biltmore in August. I felt with all the gloomy days we have been having, at least in my part of Americana, a beautiful flower image was in order. Hope you agree. ENJOY!

Inside the Gardens at Biltmore!

When I originally thought of visiting Biltmore, I thought mostly about what the house itself might be like. Little did I know that the gardens would be so alluring. In this first image, I am peering over the slate topped brick wall looking down into the Walled Gardens. The trellis walkway you see in the far left of the image leads from the entrance to the Gardens to the Conservatory. The trellis walkway basically splits the Walled Garden in half. In the background you'll notice the Blue Ridge Mountains and more specifically Mt. Pisgah.

Various shaped flower beds adorned the Walled Garden making for an interesting layout.

Here I'm looking up at the road as I walk along a paved path throughout the Walled Garden.

After you visit the estate house, the route out of the estate grounds takes you through the Walled Gardens. I took this image while in my car as I drove through the gardens to exit this area.

After exiting the Walled Gardens, you find your way on a one lane road leading to Bass Pond and Antler Village. I have a few images I'll post on these soon. I must admit the Gardens were my favorite part of Biltmore.

Why is it that we yearn to travel, yet once we arrive back home, we're glad to be there. ENJOY!
