Fall Forest Colors

We have had very little Fall weather here in Tennessee. It seemed we only had a few days of real Fall feeling weather and then it turned cold and has been that way since. Many areas of the States have significant snowfall on the ground. I heard on the news there are more snowstorms coming for the northern states. I wanted to offer a bit of Fall inspiration today. I love the yellows and oranges and even reds in this image. Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week? Even more inconceivable is that I have been planning when to put up Christmas decorations. Fall's Leftovers

Is it a coincidence that beautiful Fall colors are followed by Winter's dull and dreary days followed by Spring's brightly colored bulbs. I think not. I think there surely is a reason why Winter was tucked in between two radiant colorful seasons with reds and oranges and yellows and blues and purples and pinks. Welcome Autumn

HELLO AUTUMN. Come on in.

We are ready for you here in the South.

We await your crisp Autumn days filled with vivid blue skys.

We are anxious to carve the pumpkins and stack the hay bales.

We can almost hear the spooks in the haunted houses and smell the spiced cider as it is poured.

Most of all, we await your bright reds, oranges and golden yellows that transform our landscapes.

The Beautiful Forest Floor

As I hike the trails in the woods and forests, I oftentimes look down to take in the many elements that have fallen to the forest floor. The leaves, the twigs, the branches, the seeds, the berries. The forest floor lays covered in millions of leaves and twigs waiting for its moment of glory. This Fall I was rewarded many times over with beautiful images of leaves not yet devoid of their reds and yellows and oranges. And, of course, I felt it my duty to share these beautiful images of nature that so often we fail to take note of.

As Fall comes to a close, I find myself remembering Winter's past of snowfalls and ice storms and cold dreary days. Yet, I know with Winter there will come new opportunities to get outdoors and capture this beautiful world we call Mother Earth. And fortunately, we have fantastic holidays ahead to entertain us and get us through the Winter months. I look forward to Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and Valentine's Day before we eventually find our way back to Spring and the rebirth of our beautiful natural world. ENJOY!

Barn, Bluegrass Scenic Byway

Fall scenery as I drove the Bluegrass Scenic Byway was so beautiful. There are still a few trees that hadn't turned, but by next week I'm sure they will be in their peak.

This week and next the weak colors will be everywhere.

I passed this tree with beautiful orange red leaves and finally decided to stop as I drove back and capture a couple of images. Right outside my own back door, the maple trees have turned bright red. They are late turning this year compared to the past few years. I hope you are able to get out and take some in the Fall foliage. ENJOY!

Golden Maple Leaves

Gorgeous golden maple leaves were glowing in the sun at Bernheim and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to share this beautiful scene with you. The weather here has turned very cold. Hopefully, early next week it'll make a turnaround back to warmer temps so as not to nip at the toes of the tricksters or treaters as Halloween week approaches. Have a great weekend. ENJOY!
