Jordan Pond, Bubble Mountains, Acadia NP, Maine

Back in 2009 I posted this image of Jordan Pond. I captured this image in August 2008, the prior summer, and the Bubble Mountains in Acadia National Park, were green with foliage and Jordan Pond was beautiful on this crystal clear, blue sky day. It is the one and only time I had visited this far north in Maine and I enjoyed every moment. To me it was like a paradise. By that I mean, it was so drastically different from Kentucky. But further still, it was very different from many national parks I'd frequented in the past like Great Smokey Mountains National Park, and even Lake Superior National Seashore. I digress. The reason I'm posting this image again, is because this image has received more pageviews than any single image I've posted before or after. I'm not certain why that is, but I felt obligated to give it it's place in history and repost it. ENJOY!

Silhouette, Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, Maine

During my visit to Maine in the summer of 2008, one of my goals was to visit Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse. I have seen countless images of this lighthouse everywhere as it is one of the most photographed lighthouses along the Maine coast. I've seen photos in full sun, sunset, fog shrouding the lighthouse and many other various images. As a photographer, you know that you won't always get exactly what you're hoping for. Why? Most of the time it's the light. Unfortunately, I got to Bass Harbor very late in the day and the sun was behind the lighthouse. Being fairly spent after photographing and driving all day, I decided to cut this photo session short and only took a few photos of the lighthouse. This one I wanted to post because I just love the way the silhouette of the lighthouse contrasts against the beautiful blue skies and puffy white clouds. The illuminated red prism light, a bonus. Enjoy!

Jordan Pond, Bubble Mountain, Acadia National Park, Maine

As I drove through Acadia National Park during my trip to Maine in 2008, I decided a stop at Jordan Pond was in order. It was early afternoon and I took a walk out into the open field just beyond the outside dining area to take a few photos. The backdrop of Bubble Mountain seemed a great fit for a background with the blue sky and puffy clouds. It was a beautiful sunny day and the place was buzzing with visitors and travelers from all over the world, I'm sure. However, I managed to get this photo without any folks in it by being a little patient as I waited for some of the hikers and walkers to pass by. Enjoy!
