Three Cardinals

A snowstorm this morning left us with about an inch of snow for about an hour or two. There is a large flock of Cardinals that have made their home in the brush and small trees behind my condo.

The snow fell and the Cardinals headed for the brush in hopes of getting a bit of cover from the wet fluffy stuff. It was interesting watching them as I sat on my sofa working on my laptop on various projects. Finally I had to get up and take a few images. Not the best, but just to help tell the story of just what these little birds must endure as winter makes its way across the lower Midwest. ENJOY!

  1. What a struggle some creatures have in their life in the world, Heat,Freeze, Snow, Blizzard, Gales, and then they are there for a photo shoot.Lovely, thanks for sharing the 3 reds with us. Greetings from Jean.

  2. What an evocative image. I feel such empathy for these birds, all the while admiring the lovely image you've created of this winter scene.

  3. Wish I was there to see that! I get excited if I see one cardinal. I like this shot, Carol. One inch of snow is enough.

  4. That is one thing I noticed about living down there, lots and lots of Northern Cardinals. We had to sweep them off of the sidewalks! Up here, there are common, but not plentiful. I'm glad you didn't get as much snow as we did!
