Late Spring's Colors!

I'm amazed at how many flowers are still blooming in early June as I took a stroll through Bernheim's gardens this past weekend. I would have though a great deal of them would have been done for the season, but there were quite a few flowers still showing their colors. It was odd though, there were no flowers blooming in the waterlily pond. I did find these beautiful Beardtongues (Penstemon Canascenswere) still blooming. These beautiful blue Balloon Flowers (Chinese Bell Flowers) were showing their colors as well.Look at the bloom before it opens. Is it not totally cool.As I continued to walk throughout the gardens, I spotted a flower I'd photographed before but never posted. The Firmosa Lily (Lillum Formosarum) was blooming again this late spring day.The heat is sweltering here in the Derby City. Hope you're staying cool wherever you are. ENJOY!

  1. Carol, Such wonderful flower photos! I have Penstemon and Bell Flowers in my perennial garden all summer because it's so cool at altitude. (However, first the snow has to melt.)

    Hey Carol,

Glad to hear you are going out in spring. I sure as heck don't get out enough. I personally prefer the isolated flowers with narrow depth of field. Really makes the flowers pop.
