Blue Eyed Mary (FIGWORT Family, Small-flowered Maiden Blue-Eyed Mary, Collinsia verna) grow in open moist slopes and banks, mossy outcrops and grassy areas and flats from April to July. I found this particular beauty sitting alongside the trail on my walk last week at Raven Run Nature Sanctuary. I arrived late in the day and couldn't walk too far into the sanctuary, but did capture a few images of wildflowers along the trail before turning back to the trail head. This little flower has always been one of my favorites. It wasn't until today that I learned the name. I think I'll go on a quest to learn more wildflower names. I invite you to join me. ReplyDeleteI have had this in wildflower mixes, but never seen it grow in the wild. Pretty- and it does remind me of a violet.
