Barn Swallows

Not the best photographs, but here are several photos of the barn swallows which had made many a nest under the overhang of the barn at Bernheim. There must have been about six or seven nests. It appeared that mom and pop were very busy feeding the kiddos. These little birds are so cute in their deep blue feathers and their brown breast. They almost look like they're wearing tuxedos. They flit around so fast. I'm guessing they can do that because they're so small. Nonetheless, they were fun to watch. Enjoy!

Awesome, glad you could get enough light on them. I found a nest way back and I had to use flash to get to them. They really are marvelous creatures. It's amazing to think that they are actually catching insects right out of the air as they zip around. Awesome find! All the best.

  2. Oh love barn swallows...beatuiful pictures. When I was a little girl I use to watch them for hours on ends. Making their nests out of mud....and waiting for the babies to be born. My Grandfather had an open Garage and they loved to nest in there...my grandpa didn't mind either he would park his truck in the driveway until they left for the season. :)))
