Ring Billed Gull, Non Breeding

As I photographed Sandhill Cranes Sunday, a flock of Ring Billed Gulls, non breeding, as you can see from the streaks on their heads, kept flying in and out of a small body of water that had gathered from last week's rainfall.
While most Gulls live near the ocean and along coastlines, many Gulls live inland lives and never see the coast.
There were about 10 to 12 in this particular flock and it was interesting to watch them fly around with their gray wing feathers and black and white tips. They reminded me of Terns in a way. Ewing Bottoms was a busy place as you can see from my last few posts. It's safe to say it was a hotbed of bird activity. ENJOY!

  1. Lovely photos, they stand still so well, I like seeing the contrast with water and grasses. Cheers from Jean
