Aster & Buttonbush!

In identifying this bloom, I was a little surprised to find it was a New England Aster. Had not a clue that's what this little purple and yellow beauty was.

And then there's this little white beauty that I have never seen before until I found it growing amongst the other wildflowers at Bernheim . . . this is Buttonbush. Amazing what you learn when you go looking up wildflowers.

And now repeat after me, "Please dear God could you please bring me some relief from the oppressive heat wave." ENJOY!

New England Asters are fall flowers! But you know, the goldenrod is almost yellow now, up here, and that means we are well into the second half of summer.

My field guide says we have buttonbush, but I have never come across it. Pretty!

The temperature here is just the same as yours. I think inland is hotter, though. We are getting a good breeze right now.

  2. Cute as a button - I've never seen this flower! (We have the Asters here, of course.)
