I love it when I see a new bird I haven't identified before. I get to add this one to my bird list from right out my back door. He sat still for only a few moments but didn't mind posing for a few picks for me and I was a mere few feet away. Not my best images but I didn't have time to set up a tripod knowing full well he wouldn't be here long in this spot. From what I read in my Audubon Handbook, Eastern Birds, apparently this little guy is often seen living in thickets from Kansas east to Massachusetts. Just off my patio sits a very large field which is basically turning into a thicket in and of itself so its possible he may make himself a home there. If not I read he could fly north toward Newfoundland. Enjoy!

Looks as though it's wearing a little yellow bonnet!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a new yard tick Carol. Always a special moment when you see something for the first time. FAB.
ReplyDeleteNice shots, Carol. We have them, but have never got that close to one.
ReplyDeleteLovely little birds aren't they Carol. They have been using my bird bath for the past week. Since the bird bath is in the back yard it gets the afternoon sun...which in turn heats the water. They seem to know when it's just right for bath time!!!
ReplyDeleteNice images! I didn't know White-throated Sparrows are so uncommon in Kentucky. We have plenty here in VT but only for a short time in the spring as they are migrating further north.
