Tall Pine, Bernheim Arboretum & Research Forest!

This gorgeous tall pine tree sits near the Sun and Shade Trail at Bernheim. I wanted to post it in an ink sketch format to accentuate how tall and stark it really stands against the skyline. I dropped the original image in sepia and then softened it overall. After that I like to boost the color which tends to take the sepiatone and vary the shades throughout the image. This, in my opinion, sort of brings it to life. The ink sketches I've done recently gives me a sort of ethereal feeling. On a day like today, when it has been quite a dull, dreary, wintry day, ethereal is not a bad thing. We did have a dusting of snow this morning very, very early, but by mid morning it was gone. I really wished we would get a little more snow before Spring. Hope your week is going great. ENJOY!

  1. Changing the photo this way does make the tree stand out. Then my eye discovers other things in the image such as the rainbow affect arched around the tree. Then the bench. Cool.

  2. It reminds me of an ink print. I agree with you about the added color. It is very nice.
